This database includes an initial set of organizations that offer tutoring, technology platforms or academic interventions along with relevant information if available. This is not meant to be an inclusive list, but a starting point. We welcome additional organizations to join the database by completing this form.

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

The University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning (KUCRL) is a multidisciplinary research team whose overarching goal is to create solutions to educational challenges. Tier One Learning Solutions was launched in Fall 2020 out of a sincere passion and need to educate children with integrity by providing an intervention-based tutorial service that goes beyond homework assistance. The idea was brought upon by frustrations and obstacles that my husband and I, both Certified Educators, encountered while teaching in various school districts in Texas.School districts classify students with academic deficits as Tier II and Tier III students performing below grade level in core subjects and school-wide assessments given at various times throughout the school year. Tier II and Tier III students are recommended for intervention-based tutorials during school hours but often do not receive these services consistently throughout the school year. Being former classroom teachers, we understand first-hand the need to provide intervention-based tutoring in schools; however, schools often do not have adequate staffing, the proper curriculum and additional educational materials to provide intervention-based tutoring. We have now made it our mission that every child will be a “Tier One Learner” by providing intervention-based tutoring in Reading and Math.

With TMS, families can schedule tutors online at the time that works best for them, even last minute. TMS makes it easy to decide which tutors might best fit a student's needs by assigning badges to tutors who are trained or certified by their institutions, such as High GPA or Tutor Essential Trained.
School districts can opt-in at no cost to have a TMS site built for their community that boasts a collection of tutors chosen specifically for their students. Frequency: TbT tutoring programs will meet for 2-4 60-minute sessions per week.
Group Size: Consistent, leveled small groups are limited to 5 students with similar academic needs.
Personnel: Small groups are led by the same Teacher Tutor for the duration of the program, allowing for relationship building and responsive instruction. All Teacher Tutors are credentialed or experienced, professional educators with extensive classroom teaching experience, related degrees, and training in culturally responsive instruction.
Measurement: Programs are anchored around formative assessments to identify key skills and monitor progress.
Curriculum: The tutoring program is aligned to school programming and needs, allowing for rigor, continuity, and alignment to state standards.
