OpenLiteracy partners with school districts, non-profit organizations, and families across the United States to provide 1:1 tutoring for students in grades K-6. OpenLiteracy Tutoring can be implemented during the school day, for instance, during an intervention block or independent reading time, as well as before or after school. Students receive one-on-one instruction from a certified teacher for 30 minutes, three times per week, via OpenLiteracy's virtual classroom. Our COPPA compliant virtual classroom, similar to Zoom, makes it easy to conduct tutoring sessions whenever and wherever needed. OpenLiteracy cares deeply about working in partnership and we regularly communicate baseline and ongoing progress monitoring data as well as attendance.
In addition to providing 1:1 tutoring, OpenLiteracy’s curriculum is available for purchase to use in small group or 1:1 instruction. All lessons are turnkey and ready to use with no additional planning or prep required.

A reading coach oversees the student's assignment, progress, and engagement. The reading coach spends 4-7 minutes with the individual student at the completion of the digital lesson. This reading coach engagement is critical to validating the student's understanding of the lesson and use of the lesson skills to read the content. But the reading coach also provides that essential human connection to the student, developing the student's confidence to read and to progress to more complex content.
The curriculum employs a phonics strategy and is fully aligned with the Science of Reading principles.
The program uses digital reading lessons in a tutoring style format. Each page in the student workbook has a digital lesson explaining a specific reading skill with directions for the student to follow in the examples. SuccessMaker is a learning program that functions much like a personal tutor for students. It has a reading and a math component. Your school could be using reading or math or both.
