Tutor Training Coming Soon!
The following additional tutor training will be added as it becomes available:
- AERO: This training is designed for teachers or tutors providing early reading instruction or support for K-3 students who are Spanish-speaking English Languate Learners (ELLs) at risk for reading difficulties. The course provides information regarding common difficulties experienced by Spanish-speaking ELLs and strategies to utilize their Spanish language knowledge to support reading development in English. It will also include training on resources embedded into the AERO curriculum used to support Spanish-speaking students.
- International Rescue Committee (IRC): The IRC’s Youth Futures Tutor Training Resource will be for tutoring program coordinators providing onboarding, training, and professional development to tutors working with forcibly displaced students. Upcoming materials will provide guidance on how tutors can provide trauma-informed, culturally relevant, and linguistically responsive language, academic, and well-being support to students. Resources will include a tutor training curriculum (approximately eight hours) and a train-the-trainer curriculum. While the IRC specializes in working with forcibly displaced youth, this training will benefit any tutoring program that supports Multilingual Learners and Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE).
- Initiative for Tutor Training and Credentialing: Lead partners, Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Annenberg Learner, and Step Up Tutoring are building scalable, accessible resources for the training and development of high-impact tutors. These resources consist of two collections of nanocourses, 15-minute, interactive, online learning opportunities: one focused on foundational skills for effective virtual tutoring and another on instructional strategies for elementary math tutoring. A micro-credential for high-impact tutoring is currently in development. This open source training resource will be available to the broader tutoring community in spring 2024.
