This toolkit is designed to guide practitioners through designing and implementing a new high-impact tutoring program, or improving an existing one.

High-Impact Tutoring

Seven elements of High-Impact Tutoring guide both the design and implementation sections of this toolkit.

Seven elements of High-Impact Tutoring guide both the design and implementation sections of this toolkit.

For those starting a new program, we suggest the following process:

Define your Program Focus (the grade levels/content areas) by conducting a landscape analysis to better understand the needs of the population your program aims to serve. Using this landscape analysis, develop a logic model and value proposition to address the program focus identified.

Use the Model Dimensions section to evaluate and make decisions on each program element (tutor type, dosage, etc.).

This toolkit provides implementation guidance and tools for each of the seven elements of High-Impact Tutoring. To see the full range of tools, please see the Tool Appendix.

The order in which a particular program will need implementation guidance and tools will vary based on its program focus, local community, and what is already in place. We recommend scanning each section to understand the guidance available and delving in more detail into areas that are relevant for your program’s implementation.

For those seeking to improve an existing program, we suggest reading through the top level guidance for Program Focus and Model Dimensions, and then digging deeper into your areas of interest.
