  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery. 
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.  

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Grand Valley State University’s K-12 Connect program provides individualized K-12 academic support to students through virtual, high-dosage tutoring services. While K-12 Connect currently partners largely with Michigan school districts, the program is expanding to service districts across the US. K-12 Connect tutoring is flexibly designed, with tutoring offered in and outside of school, seven days a week. Tutors are highly trained and work in a community-based learning environment with ongoing coaching and collaborative peer and professional support. Additionally, tutors are given opportunities to earn literacy credentials.


Kelly Education, an established presence inside schools across the United States, will closely partner with parents and teachers to ensure tutoring meets individual student's needs. Tutoring solutions are designed with insights based on its work with school districts over the past 20 years. Upon completing a needs assessment, the education team develops a plan to show how an effective tutoring program should be structured.
 


Knack is a peer tutoring platform that partners with educational institutions to power and scale the most affordable and impactful academic support programs proven to reach, engage, and retain more students.


Knoyo connects students from all walks of life so they may share their individual experiences and knowledge. Our tutors are college honors students from universities all across the country, from junior colleges to the Ivy League, to ensure that there's a perfect tutor for each student. We created this space to foster these invaluable connections, giving students a strong foundation to grow from.


Language for Literacy is a program designed to deliver evidence-based literacy and language intervention through the lens of speech-language pathology and the science of reading. Tutoring is differentiated and tailored to specific student needs and assessment results. Tutoring and curriculum development is implemented by a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, licensed RAVE-O provider, and American Speech-Language and Hearing Association member. The following components of reading and writing are targeted: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, language comprehension, fluency, syntax, letter formation, encoding, written output, and executive functioning.

Our SPARK Assessment uncovers a learner's strengths and weaknesses to provide a roadmap to their own education. Our Educational Specialists utilize multi-sensory, evidence-based programs, flexible scheduling and continuous caregiver feedback. In response to COVID-19 school closures, Learning Lodge provides free virtual tutoring by connecting college volunteers with elementary and middle school students.


Littera partners with schools and districts to design, deliver, monitor, and adjust data-driven high-impact tutoring programs that take their assessment data, schedules, and specific student populations into account. Littera dramatically simplifies the delivery of high-impact tutoring, providing schools and districts with experienced virtual tutors, a full-service Littera program management team, and Littera’s comprehensive online Tutoring Management System.


For more than 20 years, the JCC has trained and paired hundreds of volunteer tutors with academically vulnerable students in Manhattan's public schools through our Literacy and Math tutoring programs. Their
objective is to help raise elementary, middle, and high school students’ reading and math scores to grade level. The majority of students come from low-income households and under-resourced communities, including students living in low-income housing facilities and in domestic violence and homeless shelters.


Masteryhour.org is a free, online tutoring program for K12 students, led by volunteers from colleges and universities, currently offered in English and Spanish. We use a mastery-based approach to ensure students advance at their own rate. All our tutors are trained in innovative teaching techniques including inquiry-based learning. anti-bias education, child-centered communication differentiating learning and cultivating a growth mindset. Volunteer professors and math teachers come to observe tutoring sessions and offer feedback and support to the student tutor volunteers. All the tutoring happens in the Mastery Hour zoom room. Students can drop in whenever they need tutoring and are paired with tutors in breakout rooms - or can stay in the main room for study hall (occasionally asking a question as needed). While we're starting with math offered twice a day in our zoom room, we hope to add more subjects and hours until Masteryhour.org is available 24 hours a day for free to any child who needs it.

OpenLiteracy partners with school districts, non-profit organizations, and families across the United States to provide 1:1 tutoring for students in grades K-6. OpenLiteracy Tutoring can be implemented during the school day, for instance, during an intervention block or independent reading time, as well as before or after school. Students receive one-on-one instruction from a certified teacher for 30 minutes, three times per week, via OpenLiteracy's virtual classroom. Our COPPA compliant virtual classroom, similar to Zoom, makes it easy to conduct tutoring sessions whenever and wherever needed. OpenLiteracy cares deeply about working in partnership and we regularly communicate baseline and ongoing progress monitoring data as well as attendance.

In addition to providing 1:1 tutoring, OpenLiteracy’s curriculum is available for purchase to use in small group or 1:1 instruction. All lessons are turnkey and ready to use with no additional planning or prep required.


Pearl's platform provides a digital campus experience to Admins, Instructors, Students and Parents. Their virtual classroom and integrated administrative tools provide a secure, all-in-one place to host and manage hybrid learning programs. The platform also provides clients the ability to collect and report data associated with all learning session types for attendance and assessment tracking purposes.


Our program utilizes high-school and college students to assist younger children that don't have the educational support they need to succeed and reach their potential in school. All meetings we hold are virtual as our tutors and students live across the country. Our sessions are usually held on ZOOM, and schedules for sessions are very flexible as they are agreed upon by the parent/guardian of the student and the tutor. We are open to any accommodations or suggestions you may have as a student or a tutor in the future.


PeerSquared helps those serving K-12 students build peer tutoring programs, so all their students can have accessible, effective, and relatable academic support for better grades and engagement. All of our tutors are either retired or current certified teachers at some level. Many of our tutors have a Master's Degree, Nationally Board Certified, and/or are award-winners. We have a collection of over 200 years of experience among our 20+ tutors. We conduct individual and small group tutoring for specific subjects (such as reading, writing, math, social studies, and science) from K-college. Since 2020, Sharity Tutoring Inc. has been committed to supporting our community by providing free tutoring services to as many children as possible. On top of managing countless AP, IB, and AICE classes, the tutors at Sharity Tutoring are extremely involved in their community and are dedicated to providing academic assistance as well as guidance to students in grades K-12. By booking an appointment, individuals will receive a private virtual tutoring session completely free of cost. Sharity Tutoring is a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit incorporation whose goal is to build a community of learners both locally and internationally through free tutoring services. In order to maximize the number of students Sharity's tutors are able to work with, tutors have developed flexible schedules to accommodate students on weekdays as well as weekends.


Springboard's recipe for impact is a method we call Family-Educator Learning Accelerators (or FELAs). FELAs are 5-10-week cycles during which teachers and parents team up to help kids reach learning goals. Programming combines personalized reading instruction for PreK-3rd graders, weekly workshops training parents as reading coaches, and professional development for educators.


Founded in 2011 and home-grown in Philly, TEACH offers exceptional tutoring and educational programming K-College. TEACH’s tutoring approach starts with building strong relationships to promote both academic and social-emotional development through creative, engaging lessons. In a typical academic year, we serve upward of 640 students through classes and 1-on-1 tutoring, 75 educators through teacher professional development, and coordinate partnership programs with 10-15 local schools, charter networks, or nonprofits. Our team believes that education can be a powerful experience that disrupts the systemic inequities that students, families, and communities face in the Greater Philadelphia area. We strive to increase educational opportunities for students by offering programming at no cost to families through grants with external partners, internal TEACH scholarships, and our Get 1, Give 1 initiative for 1-on-1 lessons.
