  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery.
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Please note that some of these programs are also listed on ProvenTutoring.org where you can find additional information on relevant research studies and costs.

Since 2001, Academic Approach has pioneered personalized, skills-based test preparation and tutoring. Upholding the principle Tests are Standardized. Students are Not.™, we design custom programs for each student. Our approach goes beyond test scores, nurturing lifelong learning and empowering students to reach their full potential.

We offer personalized one-on-one, small group, and classroom academic and test preparation instruction for middle and high school students. We kick-start our tutoring programs with analysis of a student or school's academic and testing needs. This initial exploration involves a diagnostic test tailored to a student's academic level: ACT, SAT, or a high school admissions practice test. For those seeking academic support, we delve into a comprehensive review of previous tests or quizzes to pinpoint specific learning needs. This thorough examination allows us to understand each student's unique academic profile, setting the stage for a personalized tutoring program crafted to their distinct needs and learning style.

We believe that every student deserves a tailored approach to learning. Whether a student or cohort requires a few lessons or more in-depth instruction, we design a program to identify high-impact gaps in skills and strategies, match students to an instructor who provides a personalized teaching experience, and leverage our exceptional curriculum to help master the most impactful skills. Throughout a program, we consistently guide and motivate students to become more confident, successful learners and test takers. Through ongoing support, we aim to foster growth that extends beyond the classroom, preparing students for a lifetime of learning.

Edficiency is an online platform that allows teachers to create "sessions" for flex time and/or before/after-school tutoring on whatever topic they'd like, limiting it to whatever groups are appropriate. Teachers can request groups of students for specific interventions or request individual students over any time period. Students can then request to see teachers for specific sessions based on their needs. Admin are able to oversee this process and also request any student see any teacher at any time. Students that did not request anyone and were not requested by any teacher on a particular day are also all accounted for, being assigned to a teacher they know while balancing class sizes for teachers as needed. Administrators can easily look up any student's assignment or teacher's complete roster, as well as pull reports to inform their coaching of teachers or conferences with students, parents, and/or teachers to ensure the time is being used effectively.

FluidMath includes the first Collaborative Whiteboard designed specifically for Math teaching and learning and enables teachers, tutors, and students to share the same virtual Mathematics whiteboard and workspace in real-time. Students are referred to GO based on academic and financial needs. Students are paired with a private tutor at no cost and begin a journey together that will last through middle school. Every student receives two, one-hour sessions per week over 30 weeks— resulting in 60 additional hours of individualized academic support and care in a safe and nurturing after-school environment. Tutoring takes place on-site, at the child's school, allowing a smooth end-of-day transition for students. The consistency and support provided change a child's academic trajectory in profound ways.

Additional academic and social-emotional support from a safe, stable, and reliable role model is critical for the future of our most vulnerable students.

GO Tutors meet with classroom teachers at the start of the year to set learning goals for their students. They observe students in the classroom and attend curriculum nights and parent-teacher conferences. This individualized system of support ensures the child's academic needs are met.

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, GO tutors serve as mentors. They are a bridge between home and school, partnering with parents and caregivers to provide enrichment opportunities for the family. Whether tickets to a play, a sporting event, visiting a museum, or receiving sponsorship for swimming or music lessons, this added level of trust, support, and opportunity transform students' feelings about school, their community, and life.

GO worked in partnership with the Ithaca City School District Bus Department until 2019, when the pandemic turned our world inside out. For 14 years, GO students were transported home at the end of their tutoring session, providing a smooth end-of-day transition for students whose families have little to no access to transportation. When ICSD suspended bus service, GO found creative ways to ensure students could continue tutoring after school and on-site, including membership with a local nonprofit organization, Ithaca Carshare. GO received emergency grant funds to cover the cost of transportation, and many tutors drove students home following their tutoring sessions.

Three years into the pandemic, GO continues to face transportation challenges. This year, several ICSD after-school programs have agreed to accept GO students into their programs at no cost, and many students will participate in a brand new initiative called The GO Club. Centrally located at BJM Elementary, The GO Club will be home to children from six elementary schools, allowing them to broaden their peer groups while building social skills in a cooperative learning environment. The ICSD bus department will once again provide the necessary transportation for GO students.

Tutor Matching Service is the tutor management platform from Study Edge, a learning science company committed to improving the entire education continuum, from K-12 to college and beyond. The TMS platform helps students connect with the right tutors at the right price. TMS is parent-friendly, allowing parents to search for tutors based on geographical location and subject. With TMS, families can schedule tutors online at the time that works best for them, even last minute. TMS makes it easy to decide which tutors might best fit a student's needs by assigning badges to tutors who are trained or certified by their institutions, such as High GPA or Tutor Essential Trained.

School districts can opt-in at no cost to have a TMS site built for their community that boasts a collection of tutors chosen specifically for their students. School districts can choose to allow local certified teachers to work as tutors on the platform. School districts can create vouchers with local or federal funds to support specific student groups by providing tutoring hours. TMS hosts a data dashboard for districts or school administrators with many customizations and tools to monitor teacher and student usage.

Tutor Matching Service has developed a 100% free online tutoring platform called GoBoard (www.GoBoard.com), the platform for all online TMS-booked sessions. GoBoard combines video conferencing, an interactive work canvas, and educational tools like a graphing calculator, an equation editor, molecular bonds creator, and much more. TMS creates unique links to session-specific GoBoard rooms, giving tutors and students easy access to a workspace that saves their progress for future sessions. With this continuous learning environment, tutors and students can build on past learning together.

For parents, this service to directly connect with state-specific college students and certified teachers is undoubtedly the least expensive way to find a high-quality tutor. There are many highly effective tutors available now on TMS for less than $15 per hour.
