  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery.
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Please note that some of these programs are also listed on ProvenTutoring.org where you can find additional information on relevant research studies and costs.

BellXcel is a national nonprofit that helps schools and youth serving organizations provide tremendous impact on learning recovery. BellXcel is a single source solution that provides all of the building blocks needed to run and manage an evidence-based summer, afterschool, bridge, or tutoring program--all in one platform. This includes: step-by-step guidance, professional learning and development, assessment, robust whole child curriculum for SEL and wellness, enrichment activities, rich content, and support along the way.

Connect Tutors is a remote tutoring program providing high school students with free and high-quality college application essay support. We pair predominantly low-income students with our team of tutors, and equip them to build meaningful mentorship relationships that develop the writing skills and confidence of high school students. We believe a student's financial circumstances should play no role in their ability to access college writing support and tell their stories effectively.

The Ignite! Reading program is typically implemented during the independent reading portion of a school’s literacy block or during a designated intervention period. Students receive 15 minutes per day of one-on-one instruction over Zoom from a highly-trained remote tutor. By leveraging Zoom we are able to both ensure that tutors are implementing the curriculum with fidelity and eliminate the traditional challenges of ensuring enough tutors are available at the time and place they are needed. School partners are responsible for ensuring that students show up on time for their tutoring sessions each day. Ignite! Reading serves students in K-5 and provides school partners with baseline and ongoing progress monitoring data.

Ingenify is a two sided marketplace that connects high school volunteers with kids who need free tutoring.

Volunteers are matched with students in small groups to develop a trusting, relationship and to engage in structured activities, often around classroom or homework-related topic. Inspiring Minds views tutoring as the direct and clearly defined work to support the student's academic skill development and mentoring as the more indirect work aimed at cultivating caring, positive relationships which will boost student confidence and promote academic achievement.

The goal of Math Motivators is to close the opportunity gap to, in turn, close the achievement gap by using a volunteer-driven math tutoring program that pairs underserved middle and high school students with professionals and college students with strong mathematics backgrounds.

The New Jersey Tutoring Corps provides tutoring services in math and literacy to scholars in grades PreK-8 throughout the state of New Jersey. We offer three cycles of tutoring: embedded school-day, after school, and summer, with all cycles face-to-face. Our partners are schools, districts, and community-based organizations. We follow the tenets of high-impact tutoring detailed in the Annenberg Institute's recommendations for high-dosage tutoring, with tutor-to-scholar ratios of 1:1 up to1:3, sessions lasting from 30-60 minutes, and occurring two to three times weekly.

OnYourMark is an early literacy tutoring service providing virtual, individualized, high dosage instruction focused
on foundational early literacy skills. Our program is grounded in the science of reading, and we partner with
schools as a complement to the literacy instruction already in place to ensure students get the foundational
reading skills they need to excel. Our goal is that all kids receive the foundational skills in early literacy that support successful reading outcomes by the end of 2nd grade.

Reading Assist is a nonprofit organization that provides year-round high-dosage tutoring services to children across Delaware and Pennsylvania with the most significant reading challenges, prioritizing support to low-income students, students of color, and English Language Learners. Since its inception, Reading Assist has helped thousands of readers acquire critical reading skills, changing the trajectory of these learners' lives. To empower students to reach reading proficiency, Reading Assist recruits and trains tutors in its accredited intervention program, equipping them with the skills needed to enhance student literacy in Delaware's and Pennsylvania’s most underserved schools.

Reading Assist tutors work with students performing in the lowest 25% of their peers in reading. School-year tutors consistently bring over 80% of their students to benchmark in early measures of reading ability, such as first sound fluency.

Schoolhouse.world offers free, virtual small-group tutoring sessions over Zoom in math, SAT, and AP preparation. All sessions are run by volunteer tutors who undergo a certification of content mastery and safety/quality training.

We provide one-to-one tutoring for adult education and high school equivalency preparation (GED/TASC/HiSET) at two Cleveland-area locations, as well as nationally in our Virtual Classroom, conducted through Zoom. Our tutors are all volunteers. Unlike other programs, tutors may work with a different student each day. Because our adult learners did not succeed in more traditional classroom settings, our program offers the ultimate flexibility.

Sprout and S.T.E.M. is a nonprofit organization focused on providing the educationally disadvantaged with access to after-school supplementation, such as tutoring and mentorship.

Tutors will work with small groups of three students at Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCAs three times a week. Preservice and current teachers will serve as tutors, focusing primarily on math instruction and enrichment. Tutoring will be offered as part of the programs already in place at these locations, for example summer camps.

We aim to bridge the gap in education caused by underlying socioeconomic issues. Our program offers general subject tutoring (English, Maths, Computer Science, History) and SAT/PSAT/ACT enhancement taught by top-scoring students. We offer group sessions and one-to-one classes on a weekly basis and an on-demand Q&A service for all school topics.

We have supported over 100 students from four continents on SAT, helping them improve their SAT scores significantly in addition to schoolwork help. Students within our SAT class have improved a collective 2000 points, from the 1300s range to 1500+. Collectively, we have provided over 1200 answers to student questions.

We provide individual tutoring, History Camps, and History Seminars for secondary students writing history research papers.

TutorX is a free tutoring exchange platform created for students, by students. Tutees can sign up for tutoring sessions through our website with qualified student tutors in a variety of subjects: math, English, computer science, test prep, Spanish, Latin, science, and more. Using the interactive whiteboard and text-based chat, students can get help with anything from finishing their homework to preparing for an exam. There is no audio or video to preserve student safety and comfort.

We are completely student driven and all our tutoring services are completely virtual allowing us to come into contact with as many students as possible.
