  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery. 
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.  

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Air Tutors is your district’s online partner in academic achievement. Our interactive experience developed long before the pandemic and, within the prestigious private school and boarding school arena, we polished research driven tutoring and mentoring service with the goal of helping all students reach their full potential with high quality, personalized instruction. Beyond their academic brilliance, our educators have personalities that shine through the web, and we utilize novel teaching techniques that make lectures come alive for students, captivating their engagement and attention.

Our educator to student ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:15, with our sweet spot in K-12 occurring in groups between 1:1 and 1:5. Our programs take place before, during (Push-In intervention), and after school hours, as well as on the weekends. We have tutors available seven days a week, and while most of our tutoring sessions are scheduled, all participating students can schedule on-demand sessions as well.

Brainfuse online tutoring services can be found in thousands of educational institutions and library systems in North America, making us one of the largest tutoring providers in the country.


SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) is a research-based foundational skills program proven to help both new and struggling readers in grades K–12 build skills and confidence for fluent, independent reading.

eTutorWorld offers one-to-one, and small group, online tutoring in math, science, English, and test prep for students in grades K-12. Tutors are carefully selected subject matter experts with college degree, often Masters, teaching experience, and go through extensive tutor training with ongoing coaching. Students are thoughtfully matched with a dedicated tutor for optimal personalized learning experience and mentoring relationship. Customized curriculum based on school and state standards, regular diagnostic assessments and Learn by Design teaching methodology to track progress. All sessions recorded and available for review. HeyTutor's program vets, screens, and trains tutors directly from a district's community to serve students live, and in-person on their campus. Our inclusive Learning Gap Curriculum embraces extensive academic standards to provide students with a solid foundation across subjects. It often involves diagnostic assessments to identify learning gaps, followed by resources and activities aimed at closing those gaps and ensuring that all students can achieve the expected learning outcomes. Tutoring is embedded during the school day with push in or pull out sessions or before/after school alongside childcare and enrichment opportunities. HeyTutor can also leverage district curriculum to support in-classroom initiatives.


Intervene K-12's web-based platform supports data-driven, high-dosage small group tutoring for K-12 students across content areas. Intervene K-12 works closely with districts to diagnose students' misunderstanding by utilizing researched-based analytics. The programs' whole child approach prioritizes creating an authentic instructional environment that is culturally responsive.


Grand Valley State University’s K-12 Connect program provides individualized K-12 academic support to students through virtual, high-dosage tutoring services. While K-12 Connect currently partners largely with Michigan school districts, the program is expanding to service districts across the US. K-12 Connect tutoring is flexibly designed, with tutoring offered in and outside of school, seven days a week. Tutors are highly trained and work in a community-based learning environment with ongoing coaching and collaborative peer and professional support. Additionally, tutors are given opportunities to earn literacy credentials.


Knack is a peer tutoring platform that partners with educational institutions to power and scale the most affordable and impactful academic support programs proven to reach, engage, and retain more students.

Littera partners with schools and districts to design, deliver, monitor, and adjust data-driven high-impact tutoring programs that take their assessment data, schedules, and specific student populations into account. Littera dramatically simplifies the delivery of high-impact tutoring, providing schools and districts with experienced virtual tutors, a full-service Littera program management team, and Littera’s comprehensive online Tutoring Management System.

UPchieve connects low-income students (13+) with free, on-demand math tutoring, science tutoring, and college counseling though their interactive platform. Students can use UPchieve 24/7 from any device (including smartphones, tablets, and computers) to connect one-on-one with a live Academic Coach. Using the interactive whiteboard and text-based chat, students can get help with anything from finishing their homework to preparing for an exam. There is no audio or video to preserve student safety and comfort.

Wave Learning Festival provides a variety of free educational resources. Our tutoring program features tutors from across the world hosting hour-long peer-to-peer tutoring sessions over Zoom throughout the week. We offer school partnerships of all kinds--schools are able to request the services and subjects they need most, including tutoring sessions dedicated to their students and special classes from our tutors.

To be included, interventions must: 1) have a randomized control trial or quasi-experimental study, 2) that produced an effect size of +0.20 or greater OR 3) have particularly high-quality instructional materials but do not yet have RCT or QES research.
