  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery.
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Please note that some of these programs are also listed on ProvenTutoring.org where you can find additional information on relevant research studies and costs.

Teachers can request groups of students for specific interventions or request individual students over any time period. Students can then request to see teachers for specific sessions based on their needs. Admin are able to oversee this process and also request any student see any teacher at any time. FluidMath combines the familiar and natural experience of sketching math problems with the power of computer-generated solutions. Users simply write math expressions and make drawings on the screen of a touchscreen computer while FluidMath recognizes the handwritten math notation and sketches and generates solutions in the form of algebraic expressions, computations, graphs, and dynamic animations. FluidMath enables teachers and tutors to easily create, distribute, and provide feedback on Mathematics activities, assignments, and self-grading assessments via the web. Tutor Matching Service has developed an online tutoring platform called GoBoard. It combines video conferencing, an interactive canvas, and education tools like a graphing calculator, an equation editor, molecular bonds creator, and much more. In addition, there is a reference library with subject-specific tools, including math, physics, chemistry, business, and more. GoBoard also features a first-of-its-kind ability to text in a photo of handwritten work or textbook pages directly into a collaborative board for others in the session to then mark up in real-time. For K-12 districts, GoBoard can even track the online tutoring hours that your tutors and students complete for reporting purposes.

GoBoard was constructed specifically for tutoring, is grounded in research-backed learning principles, and is vastly easier to use than running a virtual conferencing app and a digital whiteboard at the same time.

With GoBoard, tutors and students can create multiple pages with custom names, expanding the amount of content covered in a session. Tutors or students can upload work to a shared canvas by simply snapping a photo and texting to a session number. Work is done collaboratively in real-time with audio, video, and text chat features. Sessions are autosaved, allowing tutors and students to come back to the same GoBoard at the next booked session.

GoBoard also boasts a customizable Reference Library that allows tutors and students to use their own source materials. GoBoard can be accessed from an iPad, tablet, laptop, or desktop device by opening up any web browser and clicking a GoBoard link. There is no unique or separate software to download.

In order to ensure that our students are receiving the best possible academic support, students take a variety of assessments. Before beginning tutoring services, students will take a diagnostic assessment so that we have an understanding of what areas the student has mastered and what areas the student needs to review. Our assessments are coded and aligned to Common Core Standards and specific state standards. As students begin tutoring with their assigned educator, they will frequently be presented with formative assessments to track their progress and understanding. At the end of each unit or topic, students will be presented with a summative assessment to ensure that the target areas have been mastered. These assessments may come in a variety of forms, such as projects, presentations, short quizzes, etc. All progress and data is tracked through our learning platform for both educators, parents, and administrators to keep track of. If we see that a student is not making the necessary progress, then we will reevaluate the case and create a new learning plan.

The TMS platform helps students connect with the right tutors at the right price. TMS is parent-friendly, allowing parents to search for tutors based on geographical location and subject. With TMS, families can schedule tutors online at the time that works best for them, even last minute. TMS makes it easy to decide which tutors might best fit a student's needs by assigning badges to tutors who are trained or certified by their institutions, such as High GPA or Tutor Essential Trained.

School districts can opt-in at no cost to have a TMS site built for their community that boasts a collection of tutors chosen specifically for their students. School districts can choose to allow local certified teachers to work as tutors on the platform. School districts can create vouchers with local or federal funds to support specific student groups by providing tutoring hours. TMS hosts a data dashboard for districts or school administrators with many customizations and tools to monitor teacher and student usage.

Tutor Matching Service has developed a 100% free online tutoring platform called GoBoard (www.GoBoard.com), the platform for all online TMS-booked sessions. GoBoard combines video conferencing, an interactive work canvas, and educational tools like a graphing calculator, an equation editor, molecular bonds creator, and much more. TMS creates unique links to session-specific GoBoard rooms, giving tutors and students easy access to a workspace that saves their progress for future sessions. With this continuous learning environment, tutors and students can build on past learning together.

For parents, this service to directly connect with state-specific college students and certified teachers is undoubtedly the least expensive way to find a high-quality tutor. There are many highly effective tutors available now on TMS for less than $15 per hour.
